‘Read your comic book last night. Impressive! I like your take on how institutionalized faith has straitjacketed some people and turned them into intellectual pygmies with myopic views. Like what I always say, religion is one of the forces that abets bigotry and promotes anal retention. Your ideas also bring to mind how we, as humans, try desperately to put god (assuming that he, she, or it exists) into a box and use that concept to protect ourselves from what we don’t comprehend, i.e., alternative lifestyles, sexual preferences, liberal perspectives, etc.

The characters are so real and imperfect I could almost hear them breathe through the pages. You veered away from stereotypes altogether. And that’s what I always look for in any piece of good writing. I find the plot, though, a bit contrived at times. But, that, I believe, worked well for the story in the long run as it showed the interconnectivity of all your characters and all of humanity in general (or am I reading too much?). And I love your story-telling style!
Do you have other comic books? Can’t wait to read them. You just turned me into a fan.

Why fault religion for the crimes of it's constituents? People are human after all, and they are incapable of understanding as anyone else. No matter how rabid some of them maybe, or how fanatical, or judgmental, at the very heart of religion is a philosophy of love, understanding and acceptance.

And for some people, a belief in a God and a religion brings peace and comfort to their lives. I have seen too many people whose miserable lives have been transformed miraculously because of faith. They're neither judgmental, rabid or fanatical. They're just nice cool people.

But like any organization, there are the bad eggs that just has to ruin it for everybody.

Faith isn't for everybody. It may not work for you, but if it works for someone else and makes his life better, then there's something good that's in there.

*******

Actually I just wanted to comment on your your MS paint drawing. very cool! FLIM has a lot of these kinds of drawings using only Paint and they're really cool. I'd like to try them myself soon.

i did not insinuate that nothing good has come out of religion. it has indeed made a difference in the lives of a lot of people. aside from the personal aspect, it also provides social cohesion. and if we would go machiavellian, it can have a political function, too.

if religion makes people better, then, by all means, let them have faith. let them create their gods if that's what it would take for them to understand the universe better. to each his own. there should be no problem with that.

however, while it does preach love and understanding, it also sows seeds of condemnation and sometimes even hatred, whether directly or indirectly. and i'm not even talking about its constituents. i'm talking about religion per se, as a system of beliefs, philosophies, and rituals. you might want to review closely the doctrines of all major world religions to know their specific parameters of love and acceptance and understanding.

Slim Whale- Thanks for the nice review. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I wanted to bring forth flawed individuals and to show how their lifestyles can or cannot jive with strict moral codes, such as that of the Church's. I wanted to state (and it hasn't been stated enough, in this day and age, in my opinion) how gay people have been given the short end of the stick, and how they can be better without conforming to tradition.

Gerry- Thanks! Will check out Flim's blog. :) I agree with what you said, too.
